Recipe: Lamb or Beef Mince

Ingredients

  •  1/2 kg mince
  •  1 large onion finely chopped
  •  1 large tomato or purée
  •  Curry leaves (optional)
  •  4 tsp chilly powder
  •  1/2 tsp cumin powder
  •  1 tsp pepper
  •  1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  •  1 Maggi cube
  •  1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2-3 small potatoes
  •  Coriander

Process

  1. Fry the onions till brown
  2. Add ginger and garlic
  3. Add tomato purée and the cube
  4. Stir well and add all the powders
  5. let it fry
  6. Add the mince
  7. Cook for 15 mins
  8. Add potatoes
  9. Before removing, add a tablespoon of vinegar and 1/2 tsp sugar.
  10. Garnish with coriander and serve with rice.

      According to our copy of The Cook’s Thesaurus, “Maggi seasoning sauce can be substituted with equal parts dark soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce. The popular liquid seasoning can also be replaced using Thai sweet soy sauce or even mushroom soy sauce. Many grocery stores offer a variety of other brands of liquid seasonings, such as Bragg Liquid Aminos and Knorr Liquid Seasoning, that replace Maggi seasoning.” The dark soy sauce/Worcestershire sauce combo works well. A standard measure is one tsp per cube, but you can adjust for taste.
